Our Misssion
Our mission is to be a church that empowers God’s people “to serve the present age …for the building of God’s Kingdom”.
Our Goal
Our goal is to develop a mission/ministry that will address the spiritual, physical, social, and economic demands and needs of its members and the community.
Our Philosophy
The phrase "seek ye first the kingdom... while preparing ourselves for the return of Christ" is the foundation of our ethical system.
Our History
History of SUMC began in 1866. Originally, it was near “Big Spring.” First church was formed of bushes, with circular log benches. The original church was named Bush Arbor.
Meet Our Lead Pastor
I am Reverend Arthur L. Gamble, your Pastor, bringing greetings in the name of Jesus Christ. I moved from Florida to South Carolina and have faithfully served the church in various roles, including Certified Lay Servant, Sunday School Teacher, and Music Director.
I later answered the call to pastoral ministry and have been blessed to serve congregations with dedication and love.
I hold degrees from Central Carolina Technical College, Columbia College, and Hood Theological Seminary. My wife, Zenovia, also serves actively in the church. Together, we are blessed with four children and eight grandchildren.
We look forward to becoming part of the Springtown UMC family, guided by love and peace as expressed in Colossians 3:14–17.
